No remote. Exterior has small scratches which is in the normal range. Sound is very good, no crackling, popping and other annoying sounds when you turn the controls. I tested it on good speakers, they will bring out a better sound than the original recommended cheaper 5.1 front center rear and sub Sony speakers.
